2015 UFL Cup Quarterfinals Preview

Its knockout season once again in the United Football League and The Perfect Pass presents its quarterfinal preview of the Philippines’ top cup competition.

QF1: Kaya vs JP Voltes

Kaya destroyed a hastily formed Nomads squad 10-1 while JP Voltes did away Pasargard with a 2-1 win. With both squads boasting of good offensive players, the focus will be on the defense where Kaya is more dominant and Voltes is still untested.

Match Prediction:  Kaya is just too strong for the recent first division promotee’s boasting of a solid frontline and a veteran midfield and defense. It will not be close.

Final Score: Kaya 4 – 1 JP Voltes

QF2: Ceres-La Salle vs Green Archers United

Ceres is coming out from 7-0 win against UST  while the Archers won by default over Agila.  The League champions are facing the Archers for the fourth time this year and the second time in the UFL Cup. The Bacolod squad have swept all their matches against United with their last game seeing a 7-0 drubbing of their fellow La Salle squad.

Match Prediction: It will be very difficult for the Archers as the recent default of their round of 16 bye with Agila will affect match fitness and sharpness for the players. Ceres meanwhile have already shook off their league-break cobwebs enroute to their big win.

Final Score: Ceres-La Salle 3-0 Green Archers United

QF3: Loyola vs Manila Jeepney

Two of the most interesting first division teams are slugging it out for this semifinals spot.  Loyola coming off a win streak ending the league while Jeepney just made a mark with its 2-1 win against Div 1 champions Ceres.  Loyola had the upper hand in their last meeting with a 2-0 win in the second half of the league.

Match Prediction: It will be a good match but Loyola with its big guns will come out in top.

Final Score: Loyola 3-1 Manila Jeepney

QF4: Stallion vs Pachanga-Diliman

Stallion dispatched Team Socceroo to the tune of 8-0 while Pachanga-Diliman performed well against Laos scoring a 2-0 win.  Both matches in the league this Season went in favor of Stallion with 3-1 and 1-0 wins.

Match Prediction:  With Pachanga’s inspired performance in their last outing, this game will be close.  The quarterfinal match will reach extra time with Stallion edging Pachanga in the end.

Final Score: Stallion 2-1 Pachanga-Diliman (AET)
